4 Invisalign Tips for Holiday Travel

With the holidays here, you may find yourself traveling to see distant relatives or take a winter vacation. But when you wear Invisalign, there are a few important things to remember before you hit the road. Here are a few tips for making wearing aligners easier during your seasonal trek.

Don’t Neglect Your Minimums

One of the most important rules of wearing Invisalign is that you must wear your aligners 22 hours each day (yes, even on holidays). Thus, don’t forget to maintain your tray schedule during your vacation. Time meals, snacks, drinks, and cleanings the same way you do when you’re home, so your treatment doesn’t go off track on your break!

If you remove your aligners, be sure to store them properly in your Invisalign case. This will not only keep them clean, but it will also make them a lot easier to find. After all, locating a clear tray is a lot harder than spotting a larger, colored case. Plus, it eliminates the risk of having to ask your family to touch or find your aligners. Instead, they can just locate a discreet container. It’s also more sanitary, and less likely that someone will accidentally throw it away.

Keep It Clean

Don’t forget to keep your teeth clean after meals. Just because you’re not at home doesn’t mean you should neglect to brush and floss after eating. Don’t put yourself at risk for cavities and gum disease just because you’re on vacation.

Take it Out

Finally, just because it’s easier to leave your aligners on during quick snacks and for non-water beverages doesn’t mean you should. That hot cup of cocoa can warp them in addition to leaving them dirty, so even though it’s a little extra work, make sure you take out your trays for eating and drinking anything but good old H₂O!

Remember, your teeth and gums are important all year round, so don’t stop caring for them just because you’re on holiday break! Follow your regular Invisalign schedule for proper care and maintenance, and you’ll have plenty to smile about all year long!
